About
Aaltro stems from an interest in other ways of reading and experiencing space. This editorial and artistic project founded by the architectural photographer Pedro Cardigo, dedicated itself to alternative ways of interpreting space, architecture and sensory experience.
Starting from architecture, but moving beyond rigid disciplinary boundaries, Aaltro shifts the focus from the object to the experience, from form to perception, and from result to process.
Books, photography, sound, music and words (among other media) are used as complementary means of exploration, chosen according to the specific nature of each project.
For us the book is not a fixed format, but a space for editorial experimentation. Each publication defines its own scale, materiality and structure, responding to the specific context in which it emerges — whether authorial, institutional or collaborative.
Within this editorial universe, two collections structure Aaltro’s approach to architecture.
arch+ is dedicated to photographic essays on built architecture, typically centred on a single work and developed through an extended visual narrative.
chrōma, in contrast, operates as a curatorial device: each book brings together multiple architectural works organised around a shared conceptual axis, allowing architecture to be read through comparison, resonance and variation.
Our projects emerge as a place for creative experimentation, where scale, materiality and structure respond to the particular context in which each work is developed — whether authorial, institutional or collaborative.
Alongside these collections, Aaltro also develops other editorial and artistic projects that depart from predefined formats, maintaining an open relationship with space, time and experience.
Aaltro asserts itself as a continuous gesture — un altro modo — of observing, listening and thinking about space.
Collaborations
Aaltro also develops collaborations with brands and institutions through photography, creative direction, curation and editorial work, when these projects resonate with its ongoing research on space, matter and sensory experience
